Radiophonic Workshop Q+A @ The Roundhouse on the 17th of May 2009

Before their scheduled performance at the roundhouse… “contributors and former members of the BBC Radiophonic Workshoptake part in a panel discussion on Radiophonic history and what can be expected from the concert. Including Mark Ayres, Peter Howell, Paddy Kingsland and Roger Limb.”

Daphne Oram - origional Radiophonics Workshop SM, first woman to direct an electronic music studio, the first woman to set up a personal studio and the first woman to design and construct an electronic musical instrument.

True electronic sound originators take questions from the floor!  Should be good.

Most of the Radiophonic Workshop’s proper old school legends are not around – but these speakers all operated at the cutting edge of electronic music during their careers – mainly on Dr Who as well as various other projects like The Machine That Changed The World, Around The World In 80 Days and Pole to Pole.

Most exciting for twenty something nostalgia bingers… Roger Limb composed classics like the music for Geordie Racer and Magic E!

Iconic… cutting edge…?

Too much.

I know this Q+A is nothing really to do with Daphne Oram but I can’t help myself… Oramophonafantastic…
